Introduction to plate tectonics:

2. Concept Attainment (2 to 3 days)

Objective: Students will examine the most commonly cited evidence for plate tectonics, and gain an understanding of the forces at work on our planet’s surface, including heat from radioactive decay, convection currents in the mantle, buoyancy of continental and oceanic plates, and events occurring at plate boundaries and oceanic ridges.

Procedure: The teacher is free to choose method of delivery of the information, as well as resources from which to draw.
