Happy Mole Day!

Well, it’s almost 6:02 AM here… that means it’s time to celebrate..

MOLE DAY!!

If you found this by searching for it, there’s no need for me to explain what Mole Day is. If you DON’T know, then scoot over HERE (click) and take a peek.

We had various mole-related wacky fun yesterday (as a Spanish field trip, a PLAN test, and a TAKS retest would have been in the way today.) First, a brief lesson on what a mole was: I had them make as many 1-2 cm pencil marks as they possibly could in 1 minute, then tally them up and try to guess how long it would take for the class to make 1 mole of marks, assuming they didn’t get tired, have to use the bathroom, etc.. Then we did the math, and they were a little amazed that it would take somewhere in the neighborhood of a few hundred trillion years.

Then we pigged out. Hoo boy. Then we went around and serenaded other classes with our renditions of The Mole Song and The Elements. (Be sure to click on the second link especially for some sweet, flash-animated goodness. Crank it to Na.)

Happy Mole Day, fellow science geeks!
